This directory has been produced by Transition Black Isle. We are a voluntary community organisation which has the aim of making the Black Isle a better and more sustainable place to live.

We believe the best response to global threats like climate change and resource shortages is to concentrate on the good things in life that don’t wreck the environment – things like spending time with friends and relatives, and enjoying food and drink with them. And where better to find the food and drink than on our own doorstep!

In researching this guide, we have discovered a wealth of local food producers, retailers and restaurants selling local food. The vast majority are based on the Black Isle itself but we have included a few key businesses from further afield. We hope that this resource will help you to enjoy them. Contact us at  to let us know how you get on - and if you spot any mistakes, or if we have left anybody out!
